All Sorts 4 Dogs
Karen started out in 1981 with her blue merle sheltie back in Obedience at the age of 9 years old and soon caught the bug of going to shows with Cindy. She was lucky enough to put her name down for a border collie puppy Trixie, who took her up to B. Along the way she met Jeff, who soon became part of the family. Then, Gary and Kirsty came along. Soon they gained Jade as their first family dog, who competed in Obedience before Cancer took hold. Along the years Karen has remained working dogs around the shows, including Maggie May and Amie.
As the kids got older they have gone into helping many rescue dogs with foster care, transport runs and special dogs; like Liliwen who is a deaf and blind double merle collie, Harry, a fully blind collie and Winter, who has partial hearing.
In 1995 they saw a van for sale, fully loaded with show stock. Karen’s dad Alan got the van. Karen and her mother Pearl started trading around the local shows under the name of J & M Pets with an estate car. As the business grew. Alan decided to start attending more shows. Soon, J & M grew into Doggyneeds with which Karen, Jeff and their kids helped out, attending shows with Doggyneeds second stall until 2001; when, whilst on holiday, Karen, Jeff and the kids decided to start up their own stall under one name. It changed names to All Sorts 4 Dogs in 2005, as everyone kept saying they sold a bit of all sorts.
From the start, Karen made all her own tuggy toys by hand sewing until she got her first machine; which soon became 4 machines. They used to be supplied with another company’s bungee toys, but with the machine coming in it meant that Karen could start to make her bungee toys under the trademark name of Tuggyneeds. She could have her own designs printed and come up with her own take on bungee toys. Karen also makes all the stall cuddle blankets and wet to dry mats under the trademark name of Doggyneeds Bedding which gives a nod back to her parent’s stall.
Karen and Jeff are both still attending shows with their famous blue/grey frame tent which stands up to whatever the weather throws at them.
